Course on Genomic Medicine and Genetic Counselling
Hospital Ochoa will participate in the course on Genomic Medicine and Genetic Counselling, a pioneer one in Andalusia, which beginning of next year will bring together some thirty world-class experts on the subject in Malaga.
The activity will be attended by the head of the Genetics Unit of Hospital Ochoa, Dr. Óscar Lamas. Our hospital stands out for being the only one to offer a service of this kind in Marbella being among the few private hospitals in Spain to do so.
The coordinator of the course, Dr. Antonio Souvirón, points out how since the first results of the Human Genome Project were presented, we have witnessed a great revolution in biology and especially in the health sciences, which has given way to a change without precedents in the so-called Genomic Medicine or Personalized Medicine.
The course, organized by the Official College of Physicians of the Province of Malaga (Commalaga) and the Autonomous School of Business Management (EADE), will take place from January 26 to May 27, 2018, with the endorsement of the Spanish Association of Human Genetics (AEGH) and the Spanish Society of Pharmacogenetics and Pharmacogenomics (SEFF). It will address issues such as pregnancy and genetics, pharmacogenetics, rare diseases, cancer, nutrigenetics, genetic doping in sports, neurology and genetics, cardiology and genetics or bioethics.
