Hospital Ochoa Marbella received this weekend an award by Malaga’s Health Association. This organisation wished to highlight the great work achieved by the Marbella hospital, with a “thank you for the surgical work offered against prostate and colon cancer”.

Various people and institutions were celebrated at this event for their respective contributions to cancer treatment across Malaga province. Hospital Ochoa’s distinction was collected by its director, Pedro Serrano Cerezo.

In addition, the urologist Eric Schulten also received an award for his ground-breaking approach of irreversible electroporation. This pioneering treatment for prostate cancer is conducted at Hospital Ochoa. It allows for the removal of a tumour without having to remove the entire gland, which is a revolutionary improvement over conventional techniques that had been used for years.

Hospital Ochoa was present at the gala for the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), which was organised by the Malaga Health Association. The aim of this event was to raise funds for urban housing needed by children who travel from rural parts of the province for cancer treatment.
