Radiology

Radiology is the medical discipline that uses special imaging technologies to see inside the body in order to diagnose and treat diseases. The discipline started in 1895 with the discovery of X-rays.

These originally only served to see different bone structures but became more effective with technological advances over time. Ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), nuclear medicine including positron emission tomography (PET), fluoroscopy, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are other medical imaging techniques commonly used nowadays. Due to their diagnostic value, radiologists have become one of the most important medical specialties.

In addition to the basic radiological tests in black and white, contrasting agents such as barium or iodine have been incorporated. These are very useful when carrying out tests like urographies or arteriographies that benefit from a physiological evaluation as well as an anatomical one. More recently, angiographies and other catheterisation techniques are increasingly being used.

Imaging tests

Hospital Ochoa offers a wide-range of diagnostic radiology exams. They are all characterised by their safety, speed and reliability.

    1. Digital and conventional radiography.
    2. Panoramic radiograph (OPG).
    3. Digital mammography.
    4. Bone densitometry (DEXA).
    5. General ultrasound and Doppler ultrasound.
    6. Ultrasound-guided punctures (breast, thyroid, etc.).
    7. Stereotactic punctures.
    8. 3D reconstruction CT scan.
    9. Dental scan.
